this piece translates as “Token point’s value of spinning
products”. The
legends state “The holder of this card is entitled to
purchase one textile
point worth of spinning products” and “after redemption,

in half”. The vignette at left is of a man carding flax; at
right is a
woman shearing sheep. The legend around each vignette states
“Flax and
wool - blessing of the land”. The Nazi crest at the bottom

backs states how many points are required for
each of eight items of clothing or fabric, and that full
schedules are
available at shops. Above the list is stated «1 textile

(Parts of the Pskov and Leningrad Regions of Russia occupied by

The title of these
pieces also translates as «Eastern region fabric point
token». The legends state «The holder of this note is
entitled to purchase
x points worth of fabric material» and «after redemption,
cancel by
cutting in half». The backs of the tokens are blank, so no
imprint
appears. Expiration date is on the face.
All tokens are
bilingual, German and Russian. The vignette at left is of

During the German Occupation the borders for Nazi Administration
between
Estonia and Russia was marked by the territory of Republic of
Estonia
before Soviet Occupation in 1940. Tokens with registered stamps of

ZEMENTFAGRIK «PORT-KUNDA»)
This is a short
series local credit note for use from 20 August -
1 October 1941,
with a provision for revalidation on a month-to-month
basis until 1
January 1942. All notes are bilingual - German and
Estonian. Size each
note: 160 x 80 mm, w/o watermark. All notes have a
round company seal
stamped on the back. There are three signature
combinations for
members of the factory administration and cashier
signature on the
face. Notes with an extension to 1 November 1941 have
an additional
rubber hand stamp with the firm’s name in two lines and
cashier’s signature
on the back. This is the only officially sanctioned
example of Notgeld
for the German occupation of the Baltic region. Local
credit notes were
forbidden as soon as the occupation was established,
and these exist
only because a German economics officer authorized their
use so that the cement
factory could be brought back into production
immediately.
Printed by lithographically. Printer unknown. Issued numbers
of notes are 1
ruble - 1,500 pcs, 3 rubles - 1,500 pcs, 5 rubles - 1,500
pcs, 10 rubles -
750 pcs, 25 rubles - 2,000 pcs.
