These are just few of the job openings which are available worldwide right now, covering  a wide variety of positions. These positions start at entry level and go all the way to company CEO's and include everything in between. A shortage of qualified personnel is one of the major issues facing offshore and maritime related contractors in 1997 and the coming years.. If you want to work offshore, start by browsing current job openings , and apply for anything you think you might be qualified to do. Offshore workers are required to be at  least 18 years of age, in good physical shape, and able to pass standard employment drug screens. Having a valid driver's license and a good work history is a plus. Prior military is a plus. These companies are all equal employment companies. Good luck!

The Directory of Offshore Companies

The directory is available to those who want to pursue an adventurous offshore career on their own. There's approximately 5,900 companies involved in the offshore business. The Directory lists about 300 of the larger ones, and those that have entry level positions available. If you have specialized needs, then we can tailor a list to fit those needs.

Example: One of my readers was experienced in explosives and demolition. He wanted to know if there were job opportunities in this area offshore. I provided him with a list of companies that specialized in underwater demolition work.

Another example was an aircraft mechanic who wanted to go overseas. The list I provided him got him a job with a transportation company that flies oilfield equipment and personnel worldwide.

ABOUT OFFSHORE GUIDES

Offshore Guides was established in 1978 to provide people with information about employment in the offshore oil and gas industry. I started with just a simple little book entitled "Offshore Guides" which was written to tell people about the industry and give them a list of companies in the offshore drilling business. This how-to information allowed many people to find their own job.

This first publication was quite successful. There have been many changes in the industry over the years and Offshore Guides has been fortunate enough to have weathered them all. The next evolution of Offshore Guides will include a newsletter about working offshore. We'll cover topics such as "Life in the Patch" featuring stories and photos from my readers about their experiences offshore (usually quite interesting); "Places to Stay Away From" featuring trouble spots around the globe you might not want to work in such as Nigeria. (Why? A Tidewater Marine supply boat was recently machine-gunned by someone there. No one was hurt, fortunately. However, recruiters for an offshore company just might not fill you in with that info. I guess that's why they're really shorthanded in Nigeria at this time.)
